A rich and varied circuit that will take you from the famous Blyde River Canyon, to the reserve of the famous white lions, the Big 5 where your ecolodge nestled in the heart of the bush will delight you with its authenticity. Further south of the Kruger National Park, you will make a stop in a lodge with old-world charm.
Then you will reach the small kingdom of Eswatini, Africa's last absolute monarchy and sleep in a Swazi hut in Mlilwane for the most authentic approach to Eswatini between the richness of culture and magnificent landscapes.
Your journey continues to Kosi Bay, jewel of the iSimangaliso park listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will stay in an ecolodge of a different style between lakes, forests, wild beaches where turtle watching coming to lay their eggs each year between November and December followed by hatching in January/February, will be a magical moment. The private guides at your ecolodge will share their knowledge of the local culture, history and nature of this hidden jewel.
You then head back down to St Lucia, a charming small village until you reach Durban, a multicultural city with African, Indian and colonial influences.

Welcome to South Africa!
Johannesburg → Hoedspruit
Welcome and assistance at Johannesburg international airport by our English-speaking representative and delivery of our travel documents. We then take our flight to Hoedspruit, northeast of Johannesburg and close to numerous national parks and reserves.
Hoedspruit → Blyde River Canyon Lodge
Upon our arrival in Hoedspruit we pick up our rental car.
Without further ado, we set off to our accommodation, the Blyde River Canyon Lodge, where we settle in for two nights on a bed & breakfast basis.
Discovery of the Blyde River Canyon
Today after our breakfast, a beautiful day awaits you to discover this unique place, the Blyde River Canyon. Our accommodation is close to the scenic route, the ideal starting point to discover its main sites, near God's Window (7 km), Bourke's Luck Potholes (34 km), Blyde River Canyon (58 km) and the spectacular waterfalls that have made the province famous - the Mac Mac Falls, Berlin and Lisbon being the closest.
Activity suggestion: Scenic hot air balloon ride over Blyde River Canyon.
In the Heart of the Bush at Pezulu Treehouse
Today, after our breakfast, we head to the Pezulu Tree House Lodge, an exclusive lodge located in the private natural reserve of Guernesey where we settle in for 1 night on half-board (dinner and breakfast).
Suggestions for visits and activities on the way:
On the way to Pezulu Tree House, we can stop at two centres dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and flora: the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.
Of course, in the Guernesey reserve, it is possible to take wonderful Jeep safaris (at additional cost), which not only will bring us closer to the animals, but will also teach us a lot about the trees and plants. Organized by experienced rangers, they take place either early in the morning (with a stop in the heart of the bush for tea or coffee) or late in the afternoon (with a stop to watch the sunset behind the magnificent Drakensberg mountains).
The Magic of Africa at Timbavati
Guernsey Nature Reserve → Timbavati
After breakfast, we head to the Timbavati reserve, where our adventure in the bush begins. Accommodation for 3 nights in rondavels at Umlani Bushcamp on a full board basis with 2 safaris per day.
The African atmosphere, the sounds of the bush, the wildlife and our Eco-Lodge nestled in the reserve known for its white lions will transport us and enchant us at every moment. Our passionate and professional rangers accompany us on our first safari in the late afternoon. Intense moments in close proximity to the Big 5!
Safaris on the Lands of the White Lion
Early morning wake-up, a tea or coffee accompanied by dry cakes and we set off on safari. Admittedly, it is very early, but we don't regret it, a white lion is not seen every day!
Upon our return a hearty breakfast awaits us to recover from your emotions. Then, if we still have the strength, we set off with our rangers for a Bush Walk.
A good lunch is then welcome after so much effort. It's time for a well-deserved nap or a swim in the pool… where elephants like to come and drink from time to time!
Then, as the end of the day approaches, we set off again for a sunset safari. Animals less overwhelmed by the heat reappear in search of prey.
After a good day in the bush, the return to the lodge is welcome. The aperitif by the Boma, stories about the animals encountered and other unforgettable scenes will make this moment a friendly gathering, under a starry sky that will remain etched in our memories for a long time.
Dinner served, we still have so much to tell about this memorable day before dreaming of our adventure tomorrow.
Second full day in Timbavati
Second full day in Timbavati Reserve, following the same programme as the previous day.
A typical day follows the following schedule:
Morning wake-up: 5:00 AM (summer) 5:15 AM (winter) - Coffee and biscuits are served before departure for safari.
Morning safari: Departure 5:30 AM (summer) 6:00 AM (winter)
Breakfast: 9:00 AM - Breakfast is served upon our return from the morning safari.
Lunch (self-service): 2:00 PM
Afternoon / evening safari: 4:00 PM (summer) 3:00 PM (winter) - Departure from the lodge reception.
Dinner (main course self-service): 7:30 PM / 8:00 PM - Aperitif drinks are served before dinner until all guests return from the safari, followed by dinner.
Sunrise Safari and Drive to Shishangeni
Timbavati → Shishangeni (Parc Kruger)
Today at sunrise we set off for a final safari, to observe once more these majestic creatures, to feel the smell of the bush and to enjoy the heart of the African savanna. Experiences and strong emotions that will stay with us for a long time!
After brunch we check out of our rondavelle, say goodbye and thank our rangers, trackers and the dedicated lodge staff once more, then take the road to the southern tip of the vast Kruger Park, a few kilometres from the Mozambican border, and settle in at Shishangeni Lodge.
The Kruger National Park is one of the greatest attractions of Afrique du Sud, a reserve that is home to the famous Big 5. This emblematic reserve is a true African safari experience and many travellers choose to stay in a bush camp. A place where you can feel in harmony with nature and enjoy the real peace and tranquility of this spectacular wild region.

Arrival in Eswatini, former Swaziland
Shishangeni (Parc Kruger) → Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary (Swaziland)
Today, we're changing countries and setting our course for the small state of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), better known by its former name of Swaziland, an enclave that also shares a border with Mozambique.
Ezulwini, the "Valley of Heaven" and one of the country's most beautiful regions, was a pioneer in nature conservation in Swaziland. This is where we head to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, a natural paradise of plains, mountains, waterfalls and forests teeming with abundant wildlife that can be explored on foot, mountain bike, horseback or 4x4.
Not far from there, the towns of Malkerns and Ezulwini will delight craft enthusiasts.
Stay for 2 nights in traditional huts at Beehive Village.
Meeting with the Swazi People
Full day dedicated to meeting the Swazi people. We set off into the valley by safari vehicle. If it is during school time we visit a school, then local homes. Flexible itinerary, spontaneous visits, we seek above all authentic encounters with this people with pronounced hospitality. Traditional lunch during the visit.
NB: possibility on Sunday to attend gospel singing during religious services.
Kosi Bay Estuary
Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary (Swaziland) → Kosi Bay
Continuing our journey southwards and returning to South Africa. We arrive at Kosi Bayy located on the coast north of Durban, just 2 km from the Mozambican border. We are here in a lake area on the edge of the Indian Ocean, an area renowned for its beautiful beach, its river with exceptionally clear water and its rich wildlife including duikers, hippopotamuses, crocodiles and turtles.
Accommodation for 2 nights with full board at Chinderera Eco Lodge, in a chalet nestled beneath the region's trees (umdoni, acacia).
Relaxation at Kosi Bay
Full day at Kosi Bay to enjoy the sites and relax.
Activities included with English-speaking local guide: snorkeling, nature walks, exploration of Lake Amanzinyama.
Heading to Saint Lucia
We resume the coastal road heading south to Saint Lucia. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the magnificent estuary of the same name, immense in size, is home to abundant wildlife. This nature paradise can be discovered on foot, by bike or by boat and breathes calm and serenity.
Stay for 2 nights at Lidiko Lodge, a charming accommodation overlooking the large lake of Saint Lucia, in the heart of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

Salt Rock
Final stage of our journey: the laid-back small town of Salt Rock where a vacation atmosphere floats with its beach, tidal pool and diving and fishing centers.
Accommodation for the night at Petite Provence, a charming Bed & Breakfast located 300 meters from the beach.

Passeport
Pour entrer en Afrique du Sud, votre passeport doit être valide au minimum 30 jours après la date de fin de séjour prévue et comporter au moins deux pages vierges consécutives pour les tampons d'immigration.
Le document doit être en bon état (pas de pages détériorées, déchirées ou modifiées).
Séjour touristique sans visa
Les ressortissants de l'Espace économique européen, de la Suisse et du Canada bénéficient d'une exemption de visa pour les séjours touristiques en Afrique du Sud.
Cette exemption permet un séjour pouvant aller jusqu'à 90 jours lors de l'entrée sur le territoire. Ce séjour ne peut pas être prolongé au-delà de cette durée sans démarche administrative spécifique auprès du Department of Home Affairs sud-africain.
Les autorités peuvent également demander :
un billet de sortie du territoire (vol retour ou continuation),
une preuve de ressources financières suffisantes pour la durée du séjour,
une preuve d'hébergement (réservation d'hôtel ou invitation d'un particulier).
Santé et vaccinations
Aucun vaccin n'est obligatoire pour entrer en Afrique du Sud, sauf si vous arrivez d'un pays à risque pour la fièvre jaune, auquel cas un certificat international de vaccination contre la fièvre jaune peut être exigé à l'entrée.
Il est recommandé de consulter un médecin ou un centre de vaccination international avant le départ, notamment concernant :
la prophylaxie antipaludéenne, recommandée pour certaines régions (Kruger, zones du nord-est et du nord du pays),
la mise à jour des vaccinations courantes (hépatite A, typhoïde, tétanos, etc.).
Voyage avec des enfants
Les mineurs doivent être titulaires de leur propre passeport valide couvrant la durée du séjour.
L'Afrique du Sud applique des règles strictes concernant les voyages de mineurs. Tout enfant voyageant avec ses deux parents ou seul avec l'un d'eux doit présenter son acte de naissance intégral (original ou copie certifiée conforme). Lorsqu'un mineur voyage sans l'un ou les deux parents, une lettre d'autorisation parentale accompagnée des pièces d'identité des parents absents est généralement exigée.
Dans certains pays européens, une autorisation de sortie du territoire peut également être requise selon la réglementation du pays de résidence.

Les conditions d'entrée peuvent varier selon la nationalité. Les voyageurs concernés doivent se renseigner auprès de l'ambassade ou du consulat d'Afrique du Sud de leur pays de résidence.
